Biography

Jim Casey has emphasized an insurance defense practice in Southwest Colorado for the past 23 years. He is a long standing member of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association and has been listed within Best’s Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys. Mr. Casey also recently received his "A" rating as a Preeminent™ lawyer in his area from Martindale-Hubbell. In addition to defending insureds under their auto, homeowner’s and CGL policies, he has represented attorneys, real estate agents and brokers, insurance agents, engineers, accountants and physicians on errors and omissions claims. Jim has also provided coverage opinions, UM/UIM representation and PIP arbitration services for a number of insurers over the years. Jim has tried cases to a jury in the Archuleta, La Plata, Montrose and Montezuma County District Courts in Colorado and has also successfully defended appeals in the Colorado Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court. In addition to his practice as a civil attorney Mr. Casey serves as Archuleta County District Court Magistrate, as a special prosecutor for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in Ignacio, Colorado, and as an assistant municipal court judge for the City of Durango.
